We want to promote science-informed policy by scientists of all levels, community members, and decision-makers through a free Science Day at the capitol!
8:00 Breakfast with legislators
Enjoy bagels and coffee with legislators and staff.
9:00 Topics in Science Policy
Scientists and engineers will host an exposition sharing current innovations in areas such as water and air quality and sustainability, emerging technology, heat adaptation, and ecology focusing on challenges in Arizona. Policy-makers will be able to connect individually with scientists on issues of biggest concern.
10:30 Science and Technology in Policy Making
Policymakers will share their insights and perspectives on science policy communication and best engagement practices, as well as how science shapes their legislation. They will also discuss public engagement tools such as Request to Speak.
11:30 Policy in Action
Sit in on public Democratic or Republican caucus meetings to hear their discussions on proposed legislation.
12:30 Lunch with Legislators and Community Leaders
1:30 Proclamation Reading on Senate Floor
Join us in being recognized by the Arizona State Senate for scientific contributions to our state!
2:00 Committee Hearings
Sit in on any of the legislative committees to learn about this important step in the legislative process.
